The State Bar of California requires that at least 12.5 credit hours for each reporting period be “participatory.” The remaining credits can be participatory or self-study credits. According to the State Bar website, the provider can verify participatory credit if:

• You sign in at the time of the activity (electronic sign-in is acceptable)
• The provider keeps record of participants who signed in
• The provider issues a certificate of attendance to participants
