Meet the Speakers

Garrett Dailey

Editor Emeritus at Continuing Education of the Bar, Garrett was the CEO and Publisher of Attorney’s Briefcase, and produced the first Family Law Year in Review over 20 years ago. He is a California Certified Family Law Specialist focusing on appellate issues and consultations, recognized nationally for his significant contributions to the legal field.

Of his many accolades, Garrett has been recognized as a Fellow in the American and International Academies of Matrimonial Lawyers and a Diplomate in the American College of Family Trial Attorneys. Awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award from the California State Bar Family Law Section, Garrett has also been named one of the Top 100 Lawyers in Northern California numerous times by Super Lawyers and is listed in “The Best Lawyers in America.” Moreover, he is a recipient of the LACBA Brandeis, ACFLS Hall of Fame, and AAML SoCal Family Law Person of the Year awards.

Judge Mark A. Juhas

Judge Juhas sits in a general family law assignment on the Los Angeles Superior Court. He is the immediate past chair of the California Commission on Access to Justice. For the California Judicial Council, he has been on the CJER Governing Committee and a past Co-chair of the Family and Juvenile Advisory Committee; he was a member of the Elkins Family Law Task Force, Elkins Family Law Implementation Task Force and Self-Represented Litigant Task Force.

He recently received a lifetime achievement award from the Family Law Section of the State Bar, a Distinguished Service Award from the California Judicial Council and the Aranda Access to Justice award from the Judicial Council, among other honors.

Jillian Duggan-Herd, CFLS

Jillian is a Partner at Cage & Miles, LLP in San Diego, California, and a Certified Family Law Specialist with over 15 years of experience in complex family law litigation. Known for mentoring new attorneys and developing continuing legal education programs, Jillian combines her deep legal expertise with innovative approaches to modern litigation practice.

Joining Family Law Year in Review for the first time, Jillian is a sought-after speaker on the integration of artificial intelligence and technology into the practice of law. She has authored numerous articles and delivered presentations across California on topics ranging from AI ethics to trial advocacy. Her published works include articles in the ACFLS Family Law Specialist Journal and the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers Bi-monthly Newsletter. Her expertise has earned her recognition as a Daily Journal Top Family Law Attorney (2025), Super Lawyers honoree (2024-2025), and Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch (2023-2025).
