CLE is Just a Call Away with CEB Telephone Topics

OAKLAND, CALIF.—Attorneys won't find a more convenient way to continue their education than the new program recently launched by Continuing Education of the Bar (CEB). Telephone Topics presents live interactive sessions that provide hot topics and late breaking information via the telephone and can be accessed in the office, from home or on the road. These teleconferences provide attorneys with a fast and easy way to earn continuing legal education credits (CLE).

In February, attorneys spent an hour learning about the pitfalls and dangers of using evidence gathered electronically. E-Discovery Sanctions, Spoliation and Malpractice kicked off CEB's newest educational resource.

On Tuesday, March 21 they can dial a 1-800 number and hear Dale E. Short and William D. Gould presenting Update on Director's Responsibilities in a Sarbanes-Oxley Environment from 1 to 2 p.m. PST. Adopted in the post-Enron environment the Sarbanes-Oxley Act set new stringent guidelines for corporate governance, financial disclosure and public accounting.

The hour-long session covers:

  • Delaware case law developments, including the Disney decision
  • Prohibition of loans to executive officers and directors
  • Executive compensation
  • Private company considerations.

Telephone Topics allow attorneys to get their questions answered in real time by presenters at a surprisingly low cost. The enrollment fee for Update on Director's Responsibilities in a Sarbanes-Oxley Environment is only $129—interested attorneys should either visit ceb.com or call 1-800-232-3444 to enroll.

For those attorneys unable to get to a phone during the live session CEB also offers tapes of the seminars and the option for questions to be submitted via e-mail. Participants in the live programs and those purchasing the tapes for later listening will be eligible to receive Minimum Continuing Legal Education credits. The State Bar of California requires attorneys to update their legal education every three years.

CEB, a California nonprofit continuing legal education provider and publisher founded in 1947, is part of the University of California and is co-sponsored by the State Bar of California.
