CONTINUING EDUCATION OF THE BAR RECEIVES ACLEA AWARD
Launched in the summer of 2002 and cosponsored by the California Judges Association, c@sesfirst! sends subscribers the latest legal opinions on preselected topics via e-mail every morning, usually within 24 hours of court issuance. Users can personalize the service to track 49 law categories; link to full slip opinions from California courts, Ninth Circuit, U.S. Supreme Court and five other sources; and search by case or subject matter to review archived opinions. In commenting on c@sesfirst!, the judges on the ACLEA Awards Committee said, CEB used case summaries already being collected by its attorneys and used the power of e-mail to deliver the cases and to create links to full court decisionsthus capitalizing on existing internal information to develop a new, attractive, and useful practice tool. ACLEAs members are professionals in the fields of continuing legal education and legal publishing and represent more than 300 organizations from half a dozen countries. ACLEAs Best awards are highly competitive, and winning projects represent the highest level of achievement for the staff involved. CEBs other honors from ACLEA have included a Professional Excellence Award, in 2002, for the Estate Planning book California Trust Administration, Second Edition. ACLEA will formally present the 2003 Outstanding Achievement Award to CEB at the ACLEA Annual Meeting, August 2-5, 2003, in San Francisco.
